As promised earlier, we're opening up the possibility for clans to be hosted on the allseeingcow.com website. Please note that we can only support a limited amount of sites (at the moment we're having 2 spots open). More spots will open once we've decided how the 15 go ;)

CLANAU.COM

Domain Name: Your clans domain name will be a subdomain of www.clanau.com though full domain name support is obviously supported if you acquire/own one.
eg If you're clan is called 'The Poo Bums', your domain will be [URL>http://poobums.clanau.com or whatever you want it to be.

Webspace: You are initially given 75MB. This is plenty to setup a professional site, including forums etc etc. As a clan grows more popular or has been supported by the ASC for a length of time, we are willing to extend the space further.

FTP Support?: Yup. You are given 100% access to your account with a proper FTP account. Please note that we don't have cPanel support available.

PHP/Perl/Forums/Scripts?: We offer full support for PHP, PERL and whatever you want. You can ask to have any of the instant scripts installed as listed on www.clanau.com or install your own. Please understand that we offer exactly what a paid hoster would offer (minus cpanel). The ASC can install PHPBB, PHP-Nuke, JOOMLA etc for you, or you can go off and install your own (eg vBulletin).

Email: You can have up to ten email addresses based on your domain name. So like [EMAIL="john.clanau.com>john.clanau.com[/EMAIL> . Please PM each address you want after your account is setup. Like the webspace, more accounts are possible after an extended amount of time.

Databases: 4. Please PM me when you need them.

Bandwidth: 1GB. If we ever extend your webspace, we'll extend your bandwidth too

Support: While we offer to setup your account, emails, databases, add free scripts as listed on our site etc, it is up to you to deal with your own scripts, with webdesign, skins etc etc. However, feel free to ask for help on our forums for help. We will eventually setup a forum area just for website help.

What we ask for in return: That you post an advert for the allseeingcow somewhere on your frontpage. We don't expect it to be huge, nor setup right away. Just be reasonable with it and we'll be happy ;)

How do we get started: Either post your details in this thread, or PM me here You must also provide your clan details from GameArena or something similar so we can validate that you are actually setting it up for a clan, and not for personal use.
To speed things up, please provide the domain name you want (eg [URL>http://clanname.clanau.com) and add any programs you want installed from our list. I will then email/pm you back your ftp details, and any other passwords needed to access your site.

Closing your site: If you no longer wish to use the site (eg your clan dies, you get a new site etc), please contact me so I can delete your site so a new slot/site can be opened up for another clan. And yes, we can give you a zipped version of your database if you like

Example Site: [URL>http://themoofactor.clanau.com mOo will eventually be getting it's own full domain name (as you can). But otherwise, they have everything they need for free mOo is using PHP-Nuke (which we can install for you instantly, but it's up to you to add skins, setup forums etc).

For all those users out there who have been unable to access the many features of the ASC... today is your lucky day.
Previous members will recall the importance of ticking the 'Remember Me' box. However, a number of members failed to do this, or some other problem occured. The first step to fixing this problem was editing the forums so the "Remember Me" box is ticked by default (one wonders why vBulletin hadn't done this already).

However, regardless of whether you have it ticked or not, or even whether you use cookies or not, you should be correctly activated.

Please note that if you have the "Remember Me" box unticked, it means you are using a temporary session on the forums that will eventually expire. Once it does, you may find you can no longer access the ASC features again. Just resign in on the forums and all should be well.

For the number of users who can't user the ASC tools, if you could email, PM, reply to this thread etc with your allseeingcow cookie, it'd be much appreciated. Using this cookie, I may be able to adapt it to work with the site (eg getting cookies where the user failed to tick "remember me" to work).
Your allseeingcow cookie for IE can be found in c:/documents and settings/your username/cookies
For firefox, it can be found within the program at Tools|Options|Privacy|Cookies

I noticed a number of new users have been unable to confirm their email address to become full registered users... for whatever reason, I'm not sure.
I have switched about 50 users to full registered users and deleted a number of signups that appeared dulpicated and/or spam bots.
I have now disabled the need to confirm ones email address though the "image verification" will remain so we don't get spammed to high heaven O_o

Hopefully this fixes the porblem and allows all new signups to add their voice to the community

I have received a couple of PMs in regards to a sudden issue rising with the guidChecker. A number of foreign aliases are showing up in players dossiers. It appears that for some unknown reason, a number of guid dumps by Punkbuster are corrupting. This is not the fault of the guidChecker itself... it's just trying to decern the correct information as best it can.
STEAM has a permenant bug which corrupts about 25% of the list players and the guidChecker has a built in feature to compensate for this. In the future I will attempt to use this feature for STEAM to ensure that corrupted Punkbuster dump files do not mess up our database.
While I am unable to confirm why Punkbuster has started doing this, there are a number of things that can effect dump files which may help avoid this problem in the first place. If your computer is under stress during gameplay (background programs etc), guid dumps have a higher probability of corrupting. Also a bad ping is known to stuff them up.

Due to a busy schedule, I am unable to add this feature yet (same reason why I haven't completed the current upcoming update mentioned before).

I'll get all these things done as time presents itself :p

Thought I'd give some updates to the general public :p

New Module for the ASC engine coming soon...
A new feature is coming to the ASC website. The largest update I've ever worked on It will have an enormous effect on the ASC and its abilities to catch/deal with hackers. The difficult parts of the program are complete, with some minor modules for website intergrating to work on. I'm hoping to be complete within 2 weeks (say around early March) and will make an announcement a number of days before its activated.
This is the big one boys and girls. The update you've all been begging for, the update that the hackers have been loosing sleep over. {py}
And all I can say about it at this time is it's far better and more powerful than you were all expecting


Clan Website Support also coming soon...
Well, the new hoster seems to be going okay. If all continues to roam smoothly for the rest of the month, the ASC will be providing free website space (web hosting) for a specific number of clans. [URL>http://www.clanau.com gives more information. The plan is more of a "donation" to the ASC more than anything else and I'm not personally taking it seriously ;) But we're certainly looking to stock up on a few clans (maybe 10 to begin with) in early March. I'm not doing it sooner as I want to ensure this hoster is good enough to cope with it all. If the hoster thinks the ASC website is too stressful for their servers and kicks me, it's death to all those clans websites :p. So just making sure.
So if the hoster proves stable, then those clans can get themselves a free website, with a subdomain like [URL>http://clanname.clanau.com , email addresses and all the advantages that most free hosters don't provide (PHP support, MYSQL, PERL etc etc).
Please note I'm not a reseller nor trying to start a hosting business. It doesn't come with cPanel but you do get FTP for full access (so you can install all those forums you want etc).

Feel free to post any queries to this coming feature here (or PM... whatever rocks your boat :p)

The transfer of the ASC website has been successful.
Please note that there maybe some problems unforseen and feel free to reply to this news thread if you find anyway. You maybe required to delete previous ASC cookies, but otherwise the original issue has gone
Refreshing the frontpage and other area/features confirms the ASC is running faster than ever, and has benefitted from the new host enormously. All features are now activated, and you should be able to use the site as normal.

At this stage I'm uploading 600MB if evidence and sorting out a few loose ends. Anyone with an FTP account on ASC should empty them out immediately (as the old host will be dropped shortly) and any admin with an email address should reapply for one

It finally happened. We hit our 1000th member. Granted, about 780 of those members are Nappyboy, but that doesn't stop us raising our hands in the air and screaming weird things and being happy.
Many thanks for taking the time in signing up (even I get bored of doing that for every damn forum out there) and supporting us.
The ASC has certainly changed alot since it started in Oct 2005, and we're aiming at having even more changes by the time we hit 2000 (with nappyboy's help, that'll be next week).
Again, many thanks and keep spreading the word. The ASC is unique in what it does and is the best place to vent your anger against hackers.

Because of us, wife beating is down by 9% and world peace is finally possible*.
